In Luanda, Angola at the moment.

I’ve always wanted to visit Africa. To volunteer but strangely, my first visit was a “holiday”, sort of. Slums, dirty, poor people around which I expected it.

What I didn’t expect, since I am really ignorant, was how expensive things are in Luanda. I don’t know how do people survive. I guess that’s why some don’t.

Today we went to the seaport to get to Ilha do Mussulo (Mussulo Island). Once our driver drive in the seaport driveway, people were running crowding outside the bus to get our business for the boat trip. And when we finally for a boatman, the others were quarreling in Portuguese that it was supposed to be their turn. All these for USD 10. Can you imagine how hard life is for them? USD 10 can’t buy you much in Luanda. I really feel fortunate that I was born in Singapore, and not elsewhere.

Africa is so divided. The rich and the poor, it’s so obvious. I know everywhere in the world, it will be the same. But this, is beyond expectation.

Summertime

Was looking through stuff and came across these! Resting our feet at Hyde Park last year.

Oh boy, you are so adorable.

We were trying to get a photo of us but the grassland was too unsteady for the camera. Can’t believe we were actually still stoning over at down under last year, this time! How time flies!

Malacca

A one night trip with my Dearest Mum to Malacca:

I wrote down a list of restaurants to try as recommended by sources all over the internet. The first stop was Chung Hwa Chicken Rice Ball.

Verdict: I don’t like chicken rice balls. I don’t like gluey things that’s supposed to be chewy. The fragrance of chicken rice was nowhere to be found and the wonderful texture of rice grains were all gone! But the chicken was tender and smooth, and the chilli was awesome.

Why are they even popular?

Next up: Durian Chendol at San Shu Gong (三叔公).  Looks touristy but it’s just located opposite the chicken rice ball stall.

First impression: the packaging was super cute! But super environmentally unfriendly. Even Mum, Singaporean Auntie, feels that way too!

I wonder if they will reuse it. We do, at least… Hehe.. Happy and contended Lovely. Oh, the dessert was so-so. I found it a tad too sweet. We ordered Yuzu tea which turned out tasteless so I guess that compliments it. (btw, sometimes, I secretly love tasteless food)

A walk along Chinatown area, Jonker St. Blue blue sky!

Red lanterns hanging dramatically EVERYWHERE.

See, I told you. Very drama!

Walking on to Sungai Melaka.

Nothing much except for the red buildings everywhere which were not their original colour in the first place. Therefore, I wasn’t that interested in snapping the area. However, this caught my attention.

Sure, everywhere were trishaws. But this, this is ultimate cuteness!

Want a ride with skinny and dumb Barbie dolls??!

I think I shall leave the rest of my poorly taken pictures for next time…

Last sunrise in Cambodia before we board the bus to Ho Chi Minh City. Beautiful girls here in Vietnam btw!
HCMC is so messy and annoying. I miss Siem Reap. And the honks are never ending. We just came from a land of smiling people to a city with ‘can’t be bothered with you’ people.
So we spent approx USD120 for the last 4 days and decided to pamper ourselves with a hotel. We are in the city centre now, paying alot more than usual to sleep and refuse to leave our room because of the comfortability. The silly thing is, we travelled by taxi to the backpackers area twice today to eat and book for tours. We could have just took the dodgy rooms there, haha. What silly brains!
But again, the last time I stayed in a proper hotel was almost 4 years ago. I can’t even remember how hotels are like, like tipping the bellboy! Okay, that was exaggerating. Really, I was kidding.
